1st-Nov-2007 12:51 pm - Life is crazy.
It is always amazing how crazy life can get. Sometimes you think one thing will happen but something else does. You know something should have been done a long time ago but was prolonged far too long before it is finally taken care of. You believe you know people and their beliefs and morals only to find out something different. You think you are ready to handle a situation when something else happens. Life is amazing though because of all the wonderful things that happen - beautiful weather, falling in love, having amazing friends, being able to live, faith in God, and the list goes on.

Life is crazy but as long as we slow down and cherish the wonderful things in our life, life seems a bit easier and less chaotic.

Over Father's day weekend I traveled to California to visit Kristen. This was my first time in Cali and I loved it. Kristen lives in Venice and 3 miles from Venice Beach. We were busy everyday seeing something new each day. I arrived Friday evening and went to bed right away.

On Saturday we drove to Hollywood. On the way we drove through Westwood, Rodeo Dr, and Beverly Hills. In Hollywood, we walked up and down the sidewalks looking at the stars. We also went to the Chinese Theatre where the hand and footprints are. We went also went by the Kodak Theatre. Don't worry I also saw the Hollywood sign. Later that afternoon we headed to Venice beach. I got to do a little boogie boarding which was fun. I have to keep remembering that the ocean is saltwater! We were both so tired that we didn't do anything that night.

Sunday we went to church where she goes. Found out that her principal knows someone from my home church. What a small world! That afternoon we headed to Dodgers stadium to watch the Dodgers play the Angels. It was a sold out game. It's always fun to see a different stadium compared to the Metrodome. I am okay with paying $6 for a beer at the Metrodome after drinking a $10 beer at Dodgers Stadium! Angels ended up beating the Dodgers 10-4. That evening we went to Santa Monica to the Third Street Promenade which has a lot of shops along the road. (It's kinda like Nicollet Mall) There were also a lot of performers on the road. We also went to the pier which has restaurants and rides (ferris wheel) on it.

Monday Kristen had to be at school for meetings so I met up with her and her coworkers for lunch and then headed down to the beach for the afternoon. I got a bit sunburnt but now it's a nice tan!

Tuesday we went to Universal Studios. It was a lot of fun. I think I need to see Evan Almighty now after all their promotion since the movie was made there. We went on pretty much every ride and also the studio tour. We went to the Water World show and sat in the spot that probably got hit with the most water. We were soaked when we left but good thing it was hot out and we dried out quickly. That night we went down to the marina and ate a delicious dinner.

Wednesday we headed up to Malibu. First we went hiking for a while and then headed into Malibu for lunch. The afternoon was spent at the beach. We had way too much fun playing in the water and then taking tons of pictures. We headed back to her place and then I was off to the airport to head back home. Finally made it home around 11pm only to find that my car got hit in the rear driver side door. Not a fun thing to come back to but now it is getting fixed.

The trip was a blast and I would love to go back to California someday. Not sure if I would want to live there or not.
14th-May-2007 04:38 pm - Graduations
Well this is the weekend for college graduations. I started by going to CSP's graduation on Friday night. It's always interesting to see who has finally graduated. There were still a number of students I knew that were graduating.

Saturday was my crazy day. I left the Twin Cities around 7:20am to drive to Mequon Wisconsin (just north of Milwaukee) for Sue's graduation. I made it 1/2 hour before it started. It was great to see Sue's parents again and to meet her sister and Luke's (her fiance) family. After watching this graduation you can really appreciate everything that conference and events does at CSP. First of all they ran out of seats for the graduates so about a row or two of graduates sat in front behind the faculty. Then they had 9 special awards which they read each person's biography before awarding the person. Talk about boring. Luke and I had a good time catching up. Then the final thing was the security and getting people off campus. They only allowed people to get off campus and no one could get on campus until everyone got off first. Didn't make much sense but what can you do - these people are from Wisconsin.

After that we went to dinner at Buca's. We had so much food it was ridiculous. But of course we also got dessert plus a few beverages. After dinner around 7:20pm I finally left Milwaukee to drive back to the Twin Cities. I finally got back around 12:30am and was totally exhausted.

Why didn't I just spend the night in Mequon? Choir was singing in church on Sunday and since I am the director I kind of needed to be there. Choir went well and then I went to lunch with the family to celebrate Mother's day. We had a wonderful meal at Olive Garden. I then went home and took a 2 hour nap and was lazy the rest of the day.
4th-May-2007 05:15 pm - Spiderman 3
Since I worked four 10 hour days this week and was able to have Friday off I did not want to go to bed early Thursday night. What better to do than go see the midnight showing of Spiderman 3. There were a number of people there for the showing. I went to the 11:59 showing and the theater was packed but not sold out. This theater also had showings at 12:20, 12:40, and 1am. The movie was really good. There were a lot special effects and lots of action. The only downfall I saw was there are a lot of plots throughout the movie so the movie got a bit long trying to cover all the plots. If you have liked the first 2 movie, I think you should go see this one.

Why are there certain friends that always give you drama? That is all I want to know!!

Today I got the rest of my fillings filled. I was not looking forward to the dentist this time because my teeth still hurt a little from the last time. Basically I could not floss between two teeth without it hurting. Well hopefully that problem is fixed after being at the dentist.

I decided that before I go to work I would stop by a T-mobile store and check out their phones. I don't necessarily need a new one right now but I kind of want a new one. Let's just say that I went ahead and bought a new phone. It is a Motorola Razor. I'm pretty excited about it. So far from what I can figure out on it, it is pretty cool.

So where is this snow that they have been talking about? Bring on the snow!!
13th-Feb-2007 08:08 am - Chicago
This last weekend I went to Chicago with Dixie. We definitely had a blast. We met up with Sue in Mequon (Germantown to be exact) and spent the night there on Friday. Saturday we drove to Chicago. We started out at Ed Debevic's for lunch. This place is known for their rude waiters. Next we met Brad at the Shedd Aquarium. Thank goodness he was still working there because we got free parking and free all access passes which means we could look at all the exhibits. Probably the favorite thing to see there were the dolphins plus the oceanarium was where Brad worked. Next was dinner time. We ate at Hard Rock Cafe. At this point I was sick of driving in Chicago. I probably drove around Hard Rock 6 times trying to find a place to park. Finally I just parked in a parking ramp a few blocks away. We made sure Brad was humiliated at Hard Rock by celebrating his birthday. He had to stand on a chair while everyone in the restaurant yelled Happy Birthday.

Well Brad had to take the train to his aunts so the next adventure was trying to find union station again. We went there earlier so Brad could find out when the train was leaving but none of us decided to look at the cross streets. Once again I drove in many circles trying to find the place. Luckily we found the station before Brad's train left.

Now it was back to the hotel to get ready to go out. We took a taxi (so none of us had to drive later) to Coyote Ugly. It was a fun place but the drinks were expensive - $10 for a Captain coke. Let's just say I had plenty to drink while I was there and that I did dance on the bar. We finally left at 3am when the bar closed. One of Sue's friends from the area came by and drove us back to the hotel. From there we all crashed and got as much sleep as we could.

Sunday morning was a bit rough at the beginning but we left the hotel to find an Olive Garden. It is tradition for Sue and myself to eat at Olive Garden around Valentine's day. The food was really good and we had an awesome server. From there it was to drop off Sue at her place and make the long trip back to Minnesota.

This weekend adventure was so much fun but the weekend flew by so fast. It was hard to go back to work on Monday.

Well tomorrow will be a fun day - going to the dentist for 6 fillings! :-(
7th-Feb-2007 03:50 pm - Update
So the official news came today that I am able to move into a cubical. So that is what I did today. Don't worry I also did other work. It is a pretty sweet cubical. Definitely a lot more room and now hopefully less distractions and interruptions.
30th-Jan-2007 03:54 pm - desktop and cubical
So today at work I just got a brand new desktop - it came straight out of the packaging. I am so excited. I have a new toy to play with. I still have my laptop as well so now I have two computers to work with. This means I can get twice as much work done at once, right? :-) I know everyone else in the office is jealous of me now.

More exciting news - I maybe (crossing fingers) moving into an actual cubical next week. Next week departments are moving around and so that means I may be able to move. I love my location as a front desk because I get to see everyone walk by but it will be nice to have my own space and less interruptions (hopefully).
